Four days after work commenced on the Poppy Hills renovation, progress is already readily observable.
The par 4 first hole has seen the bumps and small grades that surrounded its green softened into a more natural-looking target. The before (top photo) and after (bottom) demonstrate the intent to introduce a more natural flow to the course.
Gone is the severe hill that guarded the left side of the green, and in its place, a softer downhill slope that lets the green unfold gracefully.
The par-4 third has also seen dramatic progress.
From the tee, the severe hill on the left side of the fairway has become more of a gentle slope, providing a much wider target area, as well as a much more even stance on approach shots.
After a week of preparation, work in earnest only began on Monday. More photos will be posted throughout the week.
