Green sizes and contours for Nos. 3, 4 and 6 were finalized over the weekend during the Robert Trent Jones II design team visit to Poppy Hills. The third green (above) is furthest along, as contouring has been completed and gravel and drainage are being added. You can notice from the picture below by clicking on it that while the new green still has a back-to-front tilt, the steep back tier that previously existed has been softened significantly.
The fourth green was enlarged over the weekend, but it still isn’t quite as big as it was pre-renovation. It was also given its final contours, and the slope that feeds into the left side of the green is more evident now. A large bunker will guard the right side of the green.
Here is another view from behind the fourth green:
While the sixth green is in the early stages of shaping, it is clear the surface won’t include the raised ridge that intersected the middle of it and created a lower bowl. The terrain behind the green also falls away gentler, and a bunker is visible in front of the putting surface.
The green complex for the first hole is also beginning to take shape. Notice the sweeping terrain that will feed balls from the left toward the green.
